Tomorrow, June 5th, is the UN International Day for the fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUU Day). SALT's community represents a collaborative force to #FightIUUFishing; the combined resources from this community represents a tidal wave of knowledge outlining ways to tackle this problem. A few of those groups are featured in this newsletter.

Also, do not forget to celebrate World Oceans Day 2021 on June 8th! This year's theme is The Ocean: Life & Livelihoods, a great reminder of why we do what we do. Let's keep working together, SALT community, to protect the liquid world we depend upon.

Welcome to SALT!

Last month, Hanae Matsui joined the SALT operation and communication team. Growing up in both Japan and the U.S., she has focused throughout her career on bridging the cultural differences in the seafood industry. Before joining FishWise, Hanae worked at Seafood Legacy, a Tokyo-based sustainable seafood consultancy, where she led the company's communication strategy and capacity development. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her 4 rescue dogs. Welcome, Hanae!
